Many singers sing tunes inspired of their own life.

I think that this is the case of Kelly Clarkson because when

we read her lyrics, we can say that she feels the need to

express what she has on her mind.

She speaks to her mother, she blames her mother for not

having seen her misery, for her selfishness ("you never

thought of anyone else"). Now, she has nothing to guide

her and she is afraid.

To know the real reason of the songwriting, I searched on

the Internet and I learnt that Kelly Clarkson was the first

American Idol winner.

Her song Because of you is from her second album

Breakaway. She wrote herself this song after the divorce

of her parents when she was sixteen years old. Of course,

before being recorded, those lyrics have been altered a

little bit by David Hodges and Ben Moody, former member

of the band Evanescence. Then, a video clip was directed

and it is Kelly Clarkson who wrote the script in which she

evokes her childhood.
